Invitation to Alumni Cares Lounge

On behalf of the Development and Alumni Engagement office:

Dear MBA Students,

On behalf of the Development and Alumni Engagement office and the entire Sauder alumni community, I would like to extend a warm welcome back to returning students, and a huge welcome to all transfers and first year students! We are happy to have all of you back on campus for the 2012/2013 school year.

To celebrate the beginning of a new academic year, the Development and Alumni Engagement Office and representatives from the Sauder alumni community invite you to join us at the “Alumni Cares Lounge” in the CA Hall on September 5 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Please come by and enjoy complimentary refreshments and goodies to energize you for the first week of classes.

We hope you’ll stop by to meet our staff, engage with alumni, and learn more about alumni events and initiatives that will benefit you in the upcoming year!

Campus Security Alert

An incident on campus on February 7, 2012 has prompted UBC to issue a reminder to all students, faculty and staff on its Vancouver campus to practice personal safety and security in daily activities. The University is committed to maintaining a safe campus environment and providing information in a timely manner. http://www.security.ubc.ca/

Ordering books/course packages for January (P1) – UBC Bookstore online ordering not live until Dec 15th

Dear students,

Please note that the UBC Bookstore online ordering system will not be updated for January modules until December 15th. This is a new system for the UBC Bookstore, and they weren’t able to have it updated earlier than this for 2012 modules.

If you would like to check if your books/course packages are in stock or make an order earlier than this in order to have them delivered to Robson Square prior to the holidays you can either do so over the phone or in person at the Pt Grey UBC Bookstore.

Congratulations to the Sauder MBA Sailing Team of 2011!

A huge congratulations to the Sauder MBA Sailing Team who took out the winning trophy at the Rolex MBA Sailing Regatta in Santa Margharita Ligure, Italy on the weekend of 22nd – 25th September 2011, after two years of 3rd-place finishes. Well done to you all!

U-Passes Mailed

U-Passes were mailed Monday, September 26, 2011 to anyone who submitted their form by Sept 21st .  Those students can expect to see their U-Pass in the mail in the next few days. Students who submitted after Sept 21st will have their passes mailed out on the morning of Wednesday, September 28, 2011.

Welcome to the start of the year Sauder! To kick off the year we’d like to invite you to join us as Linda Stewart, former Vancouver Police Department constable and experienced negotiator, shares her experiences dealing with crisis and conflict in the streets of Vancouver.

You’ll hear how this legendary and compassionate cop  successfully managed dozens of situations, as well as get a sneak peek at scenes from the upcoming documentary based on her career, Riding with Madonna.

Join us September 28th from 5:30pm – 7:00pm in Room 182 (Victoria Learning Theatre) at the Irving K. Barber Learning Centre.

FT MBA Period 5 Exam Schedule Posted

The Period 5 exam schedules for the Full-Time MBA modules has been posted on your Vista site:  Sauder Masters Workshops – 2010 Part-Time MBA under:  Home Page> Post-Core Academic Information> Post-Core Modules

 Please note, as per the Examination Policy, all exams, must be sat at the time stated in the exam schedule.  Exams may not be re-arranged to accommodate students’ travel plans, irrespective of the reason for travelling. Extensions may only be granted by the MBA & ECM Programs Office for medical reasons.  Students must notify the MBA & ECM Programs Office (askmba@sauder.ubc.ca) prior to the start of the exam if they are too ill to write.  A doctor’s note must be provided prior to the scheduling of a new exam date.

 Any student with Examination Hardship defined as THREE or more exams within a 24-hour period should report this to the MBA & ECM Programs Office Programs Office (askmba@sauder.ubc.ca) by no later than Monday, September 26, 2011.  Failure to notify the MBA & ECM Programs Office of 3 exams within 24 hours by the deadline given may result in students not being able to have an alternate exam sitting.
