GLOBE 2012 Conference & Trade Show

GLOBE 2012, http://2012.globeseries.com/ , will be the 12th event in one of the world’s largest and longest-running series dedicated to the business of the environment. Every two years, the world gathers in Vancouver for three days of thought-leading sessions presented by world-renowned sustainability experts, the opportunity to see leading-edge environmental innovations, and participate in unparalleled global networking opportunities.

Business leaders, corporate executives and government policymakers from around the world will meet in Vancouver, March 14-16, 2012 to explore corporate sustainability, clean energy, climate change, emissions management, sustainable finance, and greener cities.

Globe has a student sponsorship program which offers an opportunity for a number of students who are studying full time in the area of Business Management/Sustainability/Environmental Management to attend the Globe Conference and Trade Fair. We believe that GLOBE 2012 is a valuable opportunity for students to interact with Business leaders and government policymakers from around the world.

Full time students only are able to avail of this offer and are asked to send a short (one page) letter as to why they would like to attend, where their area of interest lies, what they would like to gain out of the experience and what program they are in at university. Students can submit their letters by email to Emma Kealy emma.kealy@globe.ca.

The deadline for submissions is Tuesday, January 12th 2012, and students that are selected will be informed accordingly via email on Tuesday, 17th January 2012.

Outbound Exchange – Next Steps?

MBA Exchange Program – Quick Resource

Europe? Asia? Latin America? Thinking about the Exchange Program for Fall 2012? Wondering how to get started in researching your possibilities and the logistics of it all? Here is a quick “how to” guide.

Step 1: Review our exchange partner lists at:

This list is school-based – and has useful links to documents and resources gathered by the MBA & ECM Programs Office on each of our partners

Step 2: Review UBC MBA student exchange reports at:

Step 3: Based on your Periods 1, 2 and 3 module registrations, determine which required modules you will have remaining for Periods 5 & 6.

  • Remember: If you are considering exchange, you must register for all offered required modules in Periods 1, 2 and 3. Please make any needed adjustments to your registration. This will make exchange school selection and exchange course registration so much easier!!
  • For any remaining required modules, you will need to find similar courses at your exchange school to ensure you can earn your specialization.
  • For any elective modules, you will not need to find a direct match course on exchange.
  • Helpful advice: Per the BCC, one specialization is generally all you need professionally. Trying to manage a dual specialization and go on exchange can be quite challenging. Not sure, talk to your career coach about what they recommend for you in the way of specializations.

 Step 4: Prepare your application.

  • Available on the Vista site in the International Exchange folder (outbound exchange) – and due Monday, January 9th.
  • You should select 3 schools – 1st, 2nd and 3rd choice.
  • You will need to show your academic plan for  Periods 1, 2 and 3 and what courses you intend to take at each school (this may change later – that’s OK).
  • Strategy: Articulate how your school choices will enhance your academic and professional goals.

Step 5: Email Teresa Pan at teresa.pan@sauder.ubc.ca with any questions you have.
