The inaugural Schulich International Case Competition – Nov 25th and 26th, 2011

Dear MBA students,

Please see below for a great opportunity to engage in sustainability issues in business, and in the mining industry specifically.

On November 25th and 26th, York University’s Schulich School of Business will host the inaugural Schulich International Case Competition (SICC) with a focus on sustainability in the mining industry, with the support of Schulich Executive in Residence and former CEO of Inmet Mining, Richard Ross. SICC 2011 participants will have the opportunity to examine the complex sustainability challenges facing the mining sector today. As sustainability issues and their associated risks increasingly shape the discourse around mining and extractives, developing a solid understanding and familiarity of this landscape will be a valuable experience for future business leaders.

This case competition will bring 20 teams from top MBA schools together with sustainability professionals and top industry executives to advance the discussion on these challenging issues. This is an outstanding opportunity for students to compete on a truly global stage amidst leaders in one of the world’s most important and controversial industries. Registration is now open on our website and admission will be offered on a rolling basis.

For more details about this event and the application process, please visit our website:
http://www.schulichinternationalcasecompetition.com/

Any questions can be directed to SICC@schulich.yorku.ca.

Regards,

The MBA & ECM Programs Office

Lockers

Dear 1st year FT MBA student,

We are happy to advise that we are ready to assign lockers! Thank you all for your patience while we finalized our allotment with the Dean’s Office and the CUS (Commerce Undergraduate Society).

The MBA program has 82 half-sized lockers available for student use. Most are on the 1st floor, a few are on the 4th floor. As decided by the current MBAS Executive, these lockers will all be assigned to 1st year MBA students only; 2nd year students are not eligible.  However, as there are more students than lockers, selection will be made by lottery.

If you wish to go into the draw to have a locker, please click on the link below and enter your email address to access the sign-up form. Please enter your name and student number by 4:30pm on Wednesday, September 21st.

http://www.surveyfeedback.ca/surveys/l.dll/JGsC7C7A5E8lMeD9U911J.htm

Please note that you will only be able to sign in once to enter your details.

Students will need to supply their own lock.

Lockers will be assigned initially for September – December 2011 only. Once the new MBAS Executive is selected in December, we will ask for their feedback as to how they wish to assign lockers from January 2012 onwards.

Best regards,

Theresa (on behalf of your Academic Services team)
