 The MBA Society will be hosting a Townhall meeting on Thursday September 20th at lunchtime in HA 098. 

Point of Discussion Relevant to You:

The executives have updated the MBA Society constitution to account for the major changes in the MBA program.  The proposed amendments require a 2/3rds vote of approval and we need to have quorum (15% of membership) in order to proceed.  We will be releasing the constitution infornation very soon. Please be as prompt as possible so we can begin on time.

If you have any questions or concerns, please direct them in advance of the Townhall to Kerry Costello, MBAS President at Kerry.costello@mba.sauder.ubc.ca.

Intermittent Network issues ongoing September 10, 2012 UPDATE – 21:45

UBC systems continue to experience intermittent network issues. This has been affecting access to multiple services, including UBCSecure, myVPN and UBCPrivate, OLT websites, Elearning websites, UBC Library websites. We are continuing to investigate and monitor the affected systems to find the root cause of the issues. This bulletin will be updated as more information becomes available. Thank you for your patience as we work towards a solution.

REMINDER – OBHR Simulation Sign – Up

The OB classes next Wed will not be in the usual rooms, but in Marine Drive, Simon K.Y. Lee HKU Room. We will be doing a simulation that requires everyone to be online so every student must bring a laptop. If you do not have a laptop, please let Alex or Jenny know this week so we can book you one. There is a limited number of available laptops, thus we will be enforcing a first come first serve basis. 

In preparation for this class, everyone needs to register in advance with HBS. Please click on the appropriate link below to go to the website and register. Please note there are different links for each cohort and YOU NEED TO go to the correct one! Please also note that you cannot log on until you have registered (even though the logon prompt comes up first). The deadline for registering is Monday Sept 10th at midnight. It only takes a couple of minutes so please do this as soon as possible. Please ask Alex for help if you run into trouble.

 MBA Society Executive and Club President elections will be held on Wednesday, October 3rd at 4:00pm in Ponderosa. Nominations will open on Friday September 14th and will remain open until Sunday September 30th at midnight.

·        All students are allowed to run for a maximum of one position (ie. you can run for VP Finance OR Finance Club President, but not both).

MBA Clubs Day – Wednesday September 12th

Come learn about all of the clubs and initiatives you can be a part of at MBA Clubs Day.

Meet current MBA club presidents and members and sign up to participate in upcoming events! This is also a great opportunity to decide if you want to take over as president for any clubs in January 2013.

The consulting club will be hosting a “Strategy Consulting 101” session in DL125 from 12:45 – 1:20pm. Lewis Peattie will share stories from his summer internship as a consultant with Bain.

OBHR – Leadership Coaching Stream Sign Up Sheet with Sally Maitlis

Ensure that you have completed and sent your Leadership Development Questionnaire to Sally at least 24 hours before the timeslot you have chosen.

Please commit to the time that you have chosen and arrive at my office, HA 670, on time. Before coming, read through your completed iPeer self-assessment and your Leadership Development Questionnaire, as these will serve as starting points for our discussion. I will print off copies of each of these for our meeting.

Please try to avoid changing the time you have booked. If it is unavoidable, send me an e-mail at least 24 hours ahead, so I can try to reschedule. And in the meantime, please feel free to ask any questions that you may have about the coaching process.
