Topic: Equity Capital Markets – Recent Developments in Major World Stock Markets

Bruce will be sharing his insights into the impact of major events on the World stock markets, including the most recent round of Quantitative easing, the Euro crisis, and what went wrong on the Facebook IPO.  Bruce has worked in Equity Capital Markets for 28 years and has been based in London since 1996, when he transferred there to set up the European equities business for TD Securities.

Study in BC Contest: International Students and Alumni Tell Their Stories

Study in BC is launching its very first Study in BC Contest, which asks students and alumni to submit personal stories and advice.The advice and stories will help future students and parents make the decision to study in British Columbia (BC).  The contest provides the chance to share how international students and alumni study, play and have fun in BC.

As fall classes begin, international students and alumni will have the opportunity to submit a blog post, photo album or video focused on different themes beginning September 17.  Submission themes include holidays and festivals, food, tips and advice, sports, studying, working and much more.

By participating, contest entrants have the chance to win the new iPad3, thanks to the generous support of Guard.me, a provider of health insurance to the international education marketplace for more than ten years. To learn more, visit: www.studyinbc.com/news-events/contest.

The World’s Fourth Wave: Green Economy

“Lunch on Us” and “Drinks on Us” Series!

The MBA & ECM Programs Office is hosting a series of small, informal, no-agenda get togethers for MBA students. Come eat and drink with staff and faculty. We can talk about the upcoming election, how the modules are going and anything you like. You can even ask us program-related questions! We will host 12 students at each “Lunch on Us” and “Drinks on Us” session. Attendees will include instructors, and staff from the BCC, David Lam Library, and MBA & ECM Programs Office.

Attendance is first-come-first served, and please, only one “Lunch on Us”/ “Drinks on Us” per student to give everyone a chance to attend. There will be more sessions held in the Spring!

The three “Lunch on Us” events scheduled till the end of 2012 are (lunch will be provided):

Save the date for an amazing speaker!

On September 18th we will be hosting Kofi Annan, former Secretary General of the United Nations. Mr. Annan will be candidly discussing his time at the UN, and will be able to draw from experiences and lessons learned during the terrorist attacks of 9/11, the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, unrest in the middle east, and conflicts in Africa. Mr. Annan was most recently serving as the UN/League of Arab States Join Special Envoy to Syria. He’ll be providing us with his unique perspective on world order.

You’ll receive an invitation to register, via email, on Friday Sept. 14th at 12:30pm. The invitation will include the time and location of the event. We expect this event to fill up fast, so be ready to register.

This event is only open to Sauder students and members of the Sauder community.
