Major electrical shutdown and facility closure on June 8

Please be advised of a major electrical shutdown and facility closure for Henry Angus/David Lam on Saturday June 8 from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm.

The purpose of the shutdown is to enable the maintenance of a primary power switch gear. All electrical systems except those supplied by battery back-up (universal power supply) or emergency generator will be affected.

All individuals and departments in the Henry Angus and David Lam facilities will be required to turn off electrical equipment such as copiers, computers, scanners, printers, and faxes prior to the shutdown (i.e. at the end of the day on Friday June 7). To avoid data loss or damage to electrical devices, please ensure that equipment is shut off or make arrangements with your departmental or unit staff for such procedures.

Emergency power will supply fire/life/safety systems; however, the facility will be closed on Saturday June 8 until power is restored at 6:00 pm. Faculty, staff, and students are directed to not access the building during the closure.

We regret any inconvenience this situation may cause and your cooperation with facility closure protocol is appreciated.

A different view on approaching environmental issues

Come join us as we host Bjorn Lomborg, an “skeptical environmentalist” and Director of the Copenhagen Consensus which looks to advance global welfare. Bjorn is the author of “The Skeptical Environmentalist: Measuring the Real State of the World” and has been a controversial figure in environmental economics due to his beliefs that “Global warming is by no means our main environmental threat” and that we should use a cost-benefit analysis when prioritizing what environmental challenges to tackle first.

Wireless Network Service Interruption – May 17

In order to continue to provide IT service to the UBC community, UBC IT must perform maintenance on its services and systems during regular quarterly maintenance windows.

The next maintenance window is on Saturday, May 18th from 7 am to 5 pm. During these times, there may be connectivity issues to both the wired and wireless network services.

Sauder is most likely to be impacted by changes occurring between 7 am and 10 am. Over this time, disruption to the wired network in the Henry Angus and David Lam buildings is likely to be intermittent.

Please avoid planning work or events that depend on IT resources over this time.
If you have any concerns or questions, please contact the Sauder IT Service Desk.

P7 dates corrected & Capstone dates

There were a couple of different dates published on documents for P7 this year for which we apologize. Please note that your schedule has now been updated with the correct P7 dates: October 21 – November 30th 2013.

MBA Capstone, which is a required component of your program, will take place from Monday December 2nd – Friday December 6th, 2013.

Any questions can be directed to askmba@sauder.ubc.ca
