Last Chance: Video Interviews

Noted as one of the most valuable career training programs the Hari B. Varshney Business Career Centre provides. We will assist you in putting your best foot forward in interviews by providing an individual Video Interview Practice session with an outside consultant.  We have only 5 spots remaining for our last session on Friday, May 10 (RSVP on COOL).  The next opportunity won’t be until Fall 2013.  Sign up TODAY if you are interested!

Prior to signing up to do a Video Practice Interview, it is mandatory that each student EITHER works through the Interview E module, sections 1 and 2 found on Connect, or attends a Mock Practice Interview  (details on COOL) to maximize this learning opportunity.

You also need to have completed an updated resume and will need to submit it to Carly Boettcher with the completed Video Practice Form two days prior to the meeting. We send this information on to the consultant so he can prepare in advance. Carly will be in contact with those who have signed up a week before their scheduled session.

Summer Internship Paperwork

* On behalf of Mary Cowan & the BCC*

For those of you who have secured an internship, we want to go on record that there is paperwork that needs to be sorted out! Carly, in the BCC manages all the paperwork for all summer projects, whether it is an entrepreneurial project or an internship. All the details must be filled in and submitted to her, so we can let the MBAO know that you are accounted for during the summer of 2013, so you be assessed your credits at the end of the summer.

The paperwork can be found on Connect, under the tab called Internships 2013. If you can’t find it, reach out to your Career Advisor.

Once you have filled in the paperwork, you will need to approach your track champion, who represents your chosen track. For example, if you are doing a PSM track, then you would reach out to Tim Silk. Tim may sign off himself, or he may refer you to one of his colleagues and they would supervise you through the internship. Once Tim signs off and your employer signs off, then you submit to Carly. All three signatures should be on the agreement form, and if you are doing an entrepreneurial project, then there should be two signatures.

We hope this clears up any questions around the process of internships, and again, if you have any questions, please refer to your Career Advisor.

*Reminder* Work Permit/SIN Card

Just a friendly reminder for those International students who have received their Work Permits & SIN Cards, please stop by the BCC so I can make copies for your student internship file at your earliest convenience.  There are still a few of you missing in action! Thanks for your attention and co-operation in advance!  Any questions/concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact me at: carly.boettcher@sauder.ubc.ca
