Some exam etiquette to keep in mind for P1 Exam Week:
1. BE PUNCTUAL: Not only is it disruptive to the rest of your classmates, but if you arrive late you are missing out on time to write your exam. Aim to come at least 10 minutes earlier than the scheduled time to prepare yourself and etc. Punctuality is an important part of your business career.
2. Bring your student ID: Most exams will require you to write your student number on the exam, therefore, please have it handy on the day of the exam. Your student number is located on your UBCcard.
3. Be prepared: Always bring extra writing utensils in case you run out in the middle of the exam. It can be quite disruptive and a time-waster trying to borrow a pen/pencil from the instructor or a classmate. If your exam requires/ allows you any materials please remember to bring them. Lastly, it would be a good idea to bring a water bottle to keep yourself hydrated.
4. Turn cellphones off: It is common courtesy to turn your cellphones off during an exam. Once again, it is disruptive. According to UBC Guidelines: “The use of a cell phone as a watch is not permitted.” Please tuck your cellphone away.
5. Leaving the exam: If you are done your exam early, please quietly leave the room. I know many of you (including myself) love to discuss the exam after you have left. Please take your conversations away from the hallway so you are not disrupting students who are still writing. During the last 15 minutes of the examination students are not allowed to leave the room. This is a courtesy to your fellow students.
