During the first semester, you will have a chance to apply programming skills in VBA and Python.<\/li>\n<li>If you are not already familiar with Python, we suggest that you do (at a minimum) Code Academy\u2019s Python class (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.codecademy.com\/en\/tracks\/python\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">http:\/\/www.codecademy.com\/en\/tracks\/python<\/a>) and ideally also Google\u2019s Python class (<a href=\"https:\/\/developers.google.com\/edu\/python\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">https:\/\/developers.google.com\/edu\/python<\/a>)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Statistics and R<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>We recommend the Statistics and R course offered by Harvard University via edX (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.edx.org\/course\/statistics-r-harvardx-ph525-1x\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">https:\/\/www.edx.org\/course\/statistics-r-harvardx-ph525-1x<\/a>).The course is offered for free, but they do try to steer you towards paying for a verified certificate; there\u2019s no need to do that.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\n<\/div>\n<h3 ><a href=\"#ubc-sauder-brand-logo-trademar-5\" >UBC Sauder Brand, Logo &amp; Trademarks Usage Guidelines<\/a><\/h3><div id=\"ubc-sauder-brand-logo-trademar-5\" class=\"accordian-shortcode-content \" ><\/p>\n<p>Our students are an integral part of our brand; they actively and proudly represent and promote the UBC Sauder brand through their daily interactions within the school, across campus and outside of UBC. UBC Sauder strategically invests in the development of this brand, including our logos and marks, and has an obligation to manage the usage of these.<\/p>\n<p>UBC Sauder students represent the School\u2019s brand while interacting with the business community and engaging with students from other business schools in academic competitions, sporting events and joint initiatives. When doing so, students may request to use UBC Sauder\u2019s logos and marks on clothing, equipment, etc. In all such cases, students are required to gain full approval from UBC Sauder before using our logos and marks in any manner.<\/p>\n<p><strong>UBC Brand, Logo &amp; Trademarks <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>For more information on the University\u2019s logo and trademark usage, please see UBC Policy 110 <em>Third-Party Use of University Trade-Marks<\/em> (<a href=\"http:\/\/universitycounsel.ubc.ca\/files\/2010\/08\/policy110.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">http:\/\/universitycounsel.ubc.ca\/files\/2010\/08\/policy110.pdf<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Gaining Permission to Use UBC Sauder\u2019s Logo and Marks <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The following steps outline how students can seek approval to use UBC Sauder\u2019s Logo and Marks.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Contact your Program Manager\/Advisor to advise how you wish to use UBC Sauder\u2019s Logo and Marks at least four weeks prior to producing any materials.<\/li>\n<li>The Program Manager\/Advisor will connect you with UBC Sauder\u2019s Marketing &amp; Communications department. A representative from this team will determine if approvals can be granted, and give direction on meeting the visual identity guidelines.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>\n<\/div>\n<h3 ><a href=\"#student-presentation-templates-6\" >Student Presentation Templates<\/a><\/h3><div id=\"student-presentation-templates-6\" class=\"accordian-shortcode-content \" ><p>UBC Sauder Logo\/Marks may only be used\u00a0on a project presentation by UBC Sauder Students using the template provided by the\u00a0UBC Sauder Marketing &amp; Communications Department (featured below), if the following conditions are met<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><em>The UBC Sauder Student has undertaken the project as part of the academic requirements of their program at UBC Sauder under the direct supervision of a UBC Sauder faculty member; and<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>The UBC Sauder Student has met all other requirements associated with the project (including such matters as securing ethics approvals).\u00a0<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>As a condition of this permission, the UBC Sauder Student must ensure that it is clear to\u00a0the audience that the project is being undertaken by a UBC Sauder Student for a specific\u00a0UBC Sauder course, and that the conduct of the project is being supervised by a UBC\u00a0Sauder faculty member, by providing the name and email of the UBC Sauder faculty\u00a0member.
