These cards are encoded to allow you access to the graduate breakout rooms and other graduate student areas at the Sauder School of Business.<\/p>\n<h5>There are two (2) steps involved in obtaining your activated card:<\/h5>\n<table>\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td>\n<p><strong>Step 1:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Obtain your UBCcard<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><em><span style=\"color: #808080;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/ubccard.ubc.ca\/obtaining-a-ubccard\/students\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">You can either apply<\/a><\/span><\/em><a href=\"http:\/\/ubccard.ubc.ca\/obtaining-a-ubccard\/students\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> <em>online<\/em> <\/a><em><span style=\"color: #808080;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/ubccard.ubc.ca\/obtaining-a-ubccard\/students\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">or in person<\/a>.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<\/td>\n<td>\n<ul>\n<li><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">New Students<\/span><\/em>: Please be prepared to provide your student number and one piece of government-issued photo identification for identity verification (passport, driver's license, or BC Identification Card). To pick up your card, go to the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/ubccard.ubc.ca\/contact-us\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">UBC Carding Office<\/a><\/span> located at the UBC Bookstore (6200 University Boulevard).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">If you have an expired\/existing UBCcard<\/span><\/em>: Please bring your old card (UBCcards are re-issued at no cost within 2 months of the expiration date printed on the back of the card) to the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/ubccard.ubc.ca\/contact-us\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">UBC Carding Office<\/a><\/span> located at the UBC Bookstore (6200 University Boulevard). To succeed, you will need to stay \"in the know\" regarding different aspects of the program: academics, career development opportunities, extra-curricular and social activities, etc. There will be a lot going on and many competing priorities and timelines. Communications will often be time-sensitive.<\/p>\n<p>Below are our key communication tools, some information on how they will be used and next steps you need to take to get connected:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Connect<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>You are on Connect right now! It is <em>integral<\/em> to your learning experience, so be sure to bookmark <a href=\"http:\/\/www.connect.ubc.ca\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">www.connect.ubc.ca<\/a> for future use or, better yet, make it one of your browser's homepages.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The <strong>2018 MBAN Program Site<\/strong> is just one of the sites you will be accessing through the Connect portal. This will be an important resource for your entire time as an MBAN student and contains general (not course-specific) information about your program. The Robert H. Lee Graduate School and the Hari B. Varshney Business Career Centre will keep this site updated throughout the year.<\/li>\n<li>Other Connect sites for individual modules (courses) will appear on your Connect homepage \"Course List\" throughout the program and are linked to your registration in those modules. Course readings and assignments will be managed through these sites. <em>*NOTE: not all instructors create Connect sites for their modules. From current academic and career opportunities, to exam schedules and reminders about Daylight Savings Time, the Robert H. Lee Graduate School, Hari B. Varshney Business Career Centre, and David Lam Library all use blog posts to communicate important information to students.<\/p>\n<h5><big>Facebook<\/big><\/h5>\n<p>This <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/groups\/1815457252050779\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Class of 2018 - MBAN<\/a> group page is exclusive to you, your classmates, and key Sauder staff, and will be open for the duration of your onboarding and orientation. MBAN students often use Facebook extensively to communicate with one another and post academic &amp; social events. If you don't already have a Facebook profile, please sign up for one and join us!<\/p>\n<h5><big>Student Service Centre (SSC)<\/big><\/h5>\n<p>This is where you can view course registration and manage program tuition\/fees. Instructors may also use email for course communications and central UBC offices will communicate with you almost exclusively this way.
