UBC Suicide Awareness Day – Jan 31

Wednesday, January 31st marks UBC’s 8th annual Suicide Awareness Day.

Reaching out early to prevent suicide requires the help of everyone in the UBC community. On Suicide Awareness Day, UBC students, staff, and faculty are encouraged to increase awareness, share supportive resources, and help reduce stigma surrounding suicide. You and your communities can find out how to help prevent suicide at interactive booths and roaming street teams on campus, and at thrive.ubc.ca/suicide-awareness.

Students can also attend a free two-hour training session to become QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) Certified:

  • Thursday, February 15th, 2018. 4pm-6pm. Register here. Location will be emailed to registrants the week prior to training.
  • Wednesday, March 7th, 2018. 4 pm-6 pm. Register here. Location will be emailed to registrants the week prior to training.

Or consider organizing a QPR training for your own group
