PMBA Checklist

Are you ready for your Professional MBA? Go through the checklist to ensure that you are prepared to start your program.

Task Description Deadlines

1. Mark your calendar – your program begins with the first Residency which will run for 8 full days from Sat, Jan 6 to Sat, Jan 13. Please ensure that you have made arrangements with your place of employment as attendance is mandatory for all days of the Residencies. A detailed schedule of Residency 1 will be posted closer to the start of the program. Upon acceptance
2. Ensure that you will have a laptop computer for the duration of your program. Your laptop and home Internet service must meet the minimum requirements (under Computers drop down menu). Upon acceptance
3. Review the Academic Prep courses and complete the studies in any areas where you need to brush up your knowledge/skills. Upon acceptance
4. Explore all sections of this program site, and bookmark this site on your computer – you will be notified as more sections of the site are made available over the coming months. Upon access

5. Obtain your Graduate Student UBC Access Card online. This can be done online in advance or in-person during Residency I (this is peak time though, so please note that it will be busy).

UPDATE: We can assist with obtaining your UBC Access Card on your behalf from the Carding Office. Please send us your first name, last name and student number. We will be using the photo that you submit to the Personal Information Release Survey (also listed as a required item under the PMBA Checklist). Please also keep in mind of the photo specifications for the UBC Access Card. If you wish to use a different photo, please include this with your request.

6. Course outlines (Modules Outlines tab > PMBA Program) for BA 501, BAAC 550 & BABS 550 are now released. Please review and secure any study materials indicated. You will find the list of classes you are taking from Jan – June 2018 in your Program Schedule. Early Nov 2017
7. Sign-up for the optional Buddy Program where you will be matched with a current student. In addition, here are some words of wisdom from the Class of 2019. Nov 13, 2017

9. Complete the Course on Research Ethics (CORE) online tutorial and email a copy of your PDF completion certificate to askpmba@sauder.ubc.ca. Dec 20, 2017
10. Please make sure your LinkedIn profile reflects your latest status. If you do not have a LinkedIn account, please create one as we will be working on this in Residency I. Jan 5, 2018
11. Sign-up for the Class of 2020 – PMBA – UBC Sauder Facebook Group. Even if you are not a regular Facebook user it would be worthwhile to create a basic account in order to be able to connect with your classmates prior to the program start. Jan 5, 2018
12. Read and review the following academic regulations: Professionalism, Attendance & Behaviour, Academic Standing & Grading Practices, and Academic Misconduct. Please ensure that you understand these regulations as you will be required to sign an Undertaking to Abide by the Regulations of the RHL Graduate School at the beginning of Residency I. Jan 5, 2018
13. CliftonStrengths Assessment – please keep your individual results available (either printed/soft copy) during the residency week (Jan 6 – 13 2018) as they will be used during the programming. Jan 5, 2018
