(Required for all students to complete)<\/li><li><span style=\"color: #78be00;\"><strong>Business Strategy Integration (BSI) Courses<\/strong>:<\/span> courses which integrate across disciplines to develop your managerial decision-making skills. (Required for all students to complete)<\/li><li><strong><span style=\"color: #78be00;\">Thematic Courses:<\/span>&nbsp;<\/strong>courses covering five critical business skills that form the DNA of the UBC MBA program. (Required for all students to complete)<\/li><li><span style=\"color: #78be00;\"><strong>Track Courses:&nbsp;<\/strong><\/span>if you choose to declare a track you will have a certain number of courses that are required in order to earn the track designation on your transcript.<\/li><li><strong><span style=\"color: #78be00;\">Elective Courses:<\/span>&nbsp;<\/strong>all other courses offered in the program &#8211; each student chooses their own mix of courses to make up the remaining credits in the program.<\/li><li><span style=\"color: #78be00;\"><strong>Period: <\/strong><\/span>A period is 6 weeks long and is equivalent to half a Term. During the six (6) weeks, you will have five (5) weeks of instruction and one (1) week of exams. The MBA program is made up of 7 Periods that run from January 2021 until April 2022.<\/li><li><strong><span style=\"color: #78be00;\">Course:<\/span><\/strong> A course&nbsp;is scheduled within a Period and is worth 1.5 credits. MBA students are typically registered in 4-5 courses per Period.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Courses will cover a variety of key subject areas. Not only will students learn the language of business, but they will develop the skills to understand business problems, make managerial decisions, and communicate solutions, both as individuals and as part of a team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addition to regular courses, the program also includes&nbsp;<b>Career&nbsp;<strong>and Professional Development (CPD)&nbsp;<\/strong><\/b>programming<b><strong>:<\/strong><\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Working with the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sauder.ubc.ca\/about-ubc-sauder\/locations\/ubc-campus\/hari-b-varshney\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">Hari B. Varshney Business Career Centre<\/a>&nbsp;and a career coach, students will gain valuable career and professional development skills through a curriculum that includes self-assessment, research techniques, resume and cover-letter writing, interviewing, and networking. A prerequisite is a course that has content that is integral for students to learn prior to taking the listed course. For example, in order to take some of the more advanced Finance courses, students need to have a good foundation in certain Finance content. Consequently many of the advanced Finance courses will have pre-reqs, which will be listed on the program schedule and the course record on the Student Service Centre (SSC).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"color: #78be00;\"><strong>Timetable:<\/strong><\/span>&nbsp;from the end of November onwards students will be able to view their class timetables on the <a rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/ssc.adm.ubc.ca\/sscportal\/\" target=\"_blank\">Student Service Centre<\/a>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Click on Course Schedule &gt; Registration &gt; Timetable. Students must familiarize themselves with these grading requirements prior to the start of the MBA to understand the differences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As an example, students are only permitted a limited number of &#8220;failed&#8221; (59% and below) and\/or &#8220;minimal pass&#8221; (60-67%) grades in the MBA degree. Grades will be withheld from any students who do not pay the course fee.
