Online Learning

UBC VPN

    • A VPN is sometimes needed to access library databases and other UBC resources. You may need these resources to study and complete projects throughout the program. Once your CWL ID is set up, you can install the UBC VPN using the instructions here.

canvas

Your MM courses will each have a site on UBC's Canvas. Your instructors may use Canvas to communicate, share course materials, and assign learning activities for you to do.

Zoom

For at least the beginning of your program, all courses will be taught on-line via Canvas. Many instructors will be using Zoom for real-time teaching. You do not need a Zoom account to attend lectures, but you will need to install the Zoom application. If you don't have it already, you can do this ahead of time or follow the prompts when you join your first Zoom session.

navigating online courses

Education at UBC is undergoing unprecedented change. You, your instructors, and peers are all figuring out how to teach and learn in a fully online environment. This transition comes with natural challenges and means your learning may not look or feel like what you expect.

Know that you are not alone in navigating these changes. UBC is an exceptional community doing all we can to support one another. The Keep Learning website compiles resources to help you set up, learn effectively online, understand the technologies used at UBC, take care of yourself, answer questions, and get support in this new context. You can also share what your online learning experience has been like, so this resource can improve.

Libraries & Research

During the MM, the library that you will most commonly use is the David Lam Management Research Library (Business Library). The David Lam Library is open virtually and librarians and staff are working remotely to continue to support the UBC Sauder School of Business.

DL Library services include:

  •  Virtual Research Help: Drop by the Zoom meeting room anytime from 1pm to 4pm from Monday to Friday to get live time research help
  • Email Research Help: lam.ref@ubc.ca
  • AskAway Chat Support - real time online chat with a UBC librarian so you can get help with research, citations, finding materials, and more

The David Lam Library is part of the  Canaccord Learning Commons (CLC), which provides learning support services and opportunities to hone the skills that will help you succeed at Sauder and in the work world.

The service is intended to give safe means of accompaniment when no other form is available.

Business Cards

business cards

Are you ready to network with professionals and recruiters?

Business cards are a must in order to leave a lasting impression, so make sure you order them early!  If you are interested in ordering business cards you are welcome to use the following template that is created by the Sauder Marketing and Communication division:

Template 1   |   Template 2

In getting your cards printed, each print shop may have a specific format that your file needs to be in. It is best to check with them prior to going to have cards produced.

A suggested local print shop that you are able to order your business cards through is the Made to Print shop and they do have specific format requirements so contact them in advance!

NOTE: As per the UBC Sauder School of Business UBC Marks Usage Guidelines for Student Communications: “It is not permissible for UBC Sauder Students to use UBC Marks, including UBC Sauder Logos/Marks, on their business cards unless such business card was officially issued by UBC for the purpose of indicating the UBC Sauder Student’s employment capacity at UBC, and even in such circumstances the UBC Sauder Student should not use the officially issued UBC business cards for users where they are not acting in their official UBC administrative or academic capacity (“Non-UBC Related Activities”).” If you have any questions about the Usage guidelines, please contact the RHL Graduate Programs Office.
