Program Overview<\/a><\/h3><\/p>\nMM Class of 2024 Academic Calendar<\/a><\/p>\nWHAT'S DIFFERENT ABOUT THE MM?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n- \n
\n- \n
\n- In the MM, all students progress\u00a0through the program within a set, standard curriculum.<\/li>\n
- Each Master of Management 1.5 credit course falls within a \"Period\".<\/li>\n
- A Period is equal to about half a Term with\u00a05 weeks of concurrent instruction followed immediately by 1 week of evaluation (total 6 weeks).<\/em><\/strong><\/li>\n
- There are 4-5 courses per Period - a lot to pack into a short time-frame, so dig in and be prepared!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
NOTE:\u00a0Due to the set curriculum,\u00a0successful completion of every course is\u00a0mandatory<\/strong>.<\/em><\/p>\nUNIQUE ELEMENTS<\/strong><\/p>\nThe following three courses run across several periods and are taken in addition to regular courses:<\/p>\n
BA 520: Career Development\u00a0Programming (CDP)<\/strong><\/p>\nWorking with the\u00a0Hari B. Varshney Business Career Centre<\/a>\u00a0and dedicated career coaches, MM students gain valuable career and professional development skills through a curriculum that includes: self- assessment, research techniques, resume and cover letter writing, interviewing and networking. CDP is a crucial component of the MM degree and will aid in finding employment prior to or after degree completion. CDP will provide the necessary tools for continuous professional development.<\/p>\n
\nBA 511: Community Business Project<\/strong><\/p>\nThe Community Business Project (CBP) combines community service with academic learning. During the project period, the CBP engages MM students in collaborative project work that enables application of classroom knowledge to real-world consulting projects with non-profits and social enterprises in the greater Vancouver community.<\/p>\n
The CBP builds community partnerships with organizations and community-based initiatives with strong social impacts. Through this course, students give back to their local communities by providing free business consulting services to organizations and projects that make a positive contribution to our local and global communities, citizens and environment.<\/p>\n
\nBA 551: Capstone Course<\/strong><\/p>\nThe Capstone course is\u00a0the finale of the MM experience. Working in teams, students will complete an intensive simulation that will test their ability to make business and managerial\u00a0decisions. Capstone will apply the different concepts and skills learned throughout the program in a simulated environment.<\/p>\n

NOTES:<\/strong><\/p>\nStudents are required to attend all classes and mandatory career professional development sessions during each Period. Students can miss up to 20% of each course and can apply for an academic concession for their absence. More information on academic concessions can be found under Academic Regulations<\/a>.<\/p>\nDates for workshops, info sessions, make-up classes, and exams can change with limited notice. As such, it is expected that students do not book any travel to occur until after each Period's exam week is completely finished.<\/p>\n
Exam schedules are subject to change so students are not to book any travel, appointments, interviews, etc. during exam week so time is reserved in case of emergency modifications.<\/p>\n
