Learning Aspirations

Many of the questions raised in the course are central to our sense of who we are, how we learn about history and how we relate to one another. A central goal of the course is to foster creative and critical thinking and encourage a new generation of engaged scholars, journalists and policymakers in the study and praxis of memory and justice.

By the end of this seminar, students will be able to:

  1. Understand the historical emergence of memory and transitional justice globally,
  2. Identify key themes and debates within the field of memory studies and transitional justice,
  3. Analyze and apply different theoretical and conceptual lenses to the study of memory and justice,
  4. Comprehend and position themselves in relation to different moral and ethical debates on memory and justice after atrocity, and
  5. Sharpen their facilitation and presentations skills and critical thinking.
