Many of the questions raised in the course are central to our sense of who we are, how we learn about history and how we relate to one another. A central goal of the course is to foster creative and critical thinking and encourage a new generation of engaged scholars, journalists and policymakers in the study and praxis of memory and justice.
By the end of this seminar, students will be able to:
- Understand the historical emergence of memory and transitional justice globally,
- Identify key themes and debates within the field of memory studies and transitional justice,
- Analyze and apply different theoretical and conceptual lenses to the study of memory and justice,
- Comprehend and position themselves in relation to different moral and ethical debates on memory and justice after atrocity, and
- Sharpen their facilitation and presentations skills and critical thinking.
