About

I grew up in Ichalkaranji, a relatively small town situated in the south-western part of Maharashtra, India; and known for its textile and engineering industries. Soon after completing my schooling, I moved to Pune to study Physics at Fergusson College (though I ended up doing a whole lot of other things, to be honest!).

I discovered Linguistics around the same time, and moved to Deccan College, the institute to house the first department of modern linguistics in India; where I completed M.A. and M.Phil. in Linguistics. I moved to MSU, Baroda quickly thereafter to work as a temporary assistant professor for some time. I started my Ph.D. in Linguistics at UBC in January 2021.

When I am not doing linguistics, I often find myself procrastinating, binge-watching, or falling down the YouTube rabbit hole. My non-academic interests include reading (mostly poetry and non-fiction), Cricket, Indian classical music, and history.
