Goode&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>New Guinea, Men&#8217;s House Song<\/li>\n<li>Japan, Shakuhachi, &#8220;Tsuru No Suomori&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>Mozart, The Magic Flute<\/li>\n<li>Melancholy Blues<\/li>\n<li>Stravinsky, Rite of Spring<\/li>\n<li>Bach, The Well-Tempered Clavier<\/li>\n<li>Beethoven, Fifth Symphony, The first Movement<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>To help narrow down the list of 27 songs to 10, I decided to classify the songs by genre to have a more even distribution by music type.\u00a0 For the songs of similar types I used other criteria to ensure that there was a variety of music being represented, these criteria included, the tempo, intricacy of the melody, number of parts, overall mood and the different instruments that were featured.\u00a0 For the genres that were in two or more songs, orchestra, classical, cultural folk songs and blues, I considered the use of different instruments as the primary tie-breaker to ensure that a variety of instruments were represented and this was the reason for selecting \u201cMelancholy Blues\u201d over \u201cDark was the Night\u201d for the blues songs and \u201cBach, The Well-Tempered Clavier\u201d over the other classical songs that featured instruments that were already showcased in other songs.\u00a0 For songs that had similar instruments, I selected songs with different moods and rhythms as was the case with selecting the &#8220;Fifth Symphony&#8221; which I deemed to be more powerful, over the cheerful &#8220;Brandenburg Concerto&#8221;.\u00a0 I found it interesting that in the original selection there were many cultural folk songs selected to try and represent the many different cultures in the world but I avoided classifying the songs by culture because it would be impossible to accurately represent all of the cultures with 10 songs.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>My collection Senegal, Percussion Australia, Aborigine songs, &#8220;Morning Star&#8221; and &#8220;Devil Bird&#8221; &#8220;Johnny B.
