Biography

I am a passionate and driven Earth and Environmental Science student at UBCO. I am an outdoor lover from Calgary where I spent most of my childhood in nature in the Bow Valley.

I have always excelled and had a strong passion for sciences and specifically the environment. The area of environmental sciences that I am most interested in is anything related to sustainability. With the current state of affairs in our world today and with rising concerns about global climate change, I want to further my knowledge and understanding of how humans can reduce their extreme effects to Earth. A course in my degree that interested me the most was a soils science class. Soils are a precious resources that take hundreds to thousands of years to form. They are too often carelessly exploited by humans in our extensive agricultural practices and depleted to point where they become barren. Soil sciences is an area that I would love to expand my understanding in and possibly be an area where I would like to focus my sustainability efforts in my career.

I do not have a specific professional career in mind but would love to be involved in efforts that pertain to reducing or mitigating anthropogenic climate change. My undergraduate degree in environmental sciences gives me a basic understanding of how the Earth functions and will act as the foundation to my understanding of the Earth for when I apply for a masters in sustainability in the future. As mentioned before, I am very eager to have a career that pertains to preserving and mitigating the invaluable life and functionality of Earth. Earth is the only planet humans are currently able to survive on and I plan on helping ensure we can one day live in harmony with it.
