KFC: Customer Relationship

http://beta.ca.news.yahoo.com/calgary-mom-bone-pick-kfc-over-choking-incident.html

(The full story is on the link) To summarize it, a mother of a two-year old daughter filed a complaint to KFC because her daughter nearly choked to death on a quarter-sized bone found inside a piece of popcorn chicken. In my opinion this probably isn’t a one in a million incident, it probably happens all the time but people just spit it out without much thought. The problem here is that KFC has now received  bad press and attention. I think KFC could have handled the situation better from improving communication with the mother addressing her concern. They should not wait until it has become a public issue and state they take it extremely seriously and they investigated their meat supplier… etc.. I think if the toddler died or was hospitalized, the effect on KFC would be a lot worse.

.

On the other hand, letting a 2-year old eat popcorn chicken in the car when nobody is sitting in the back may not be the wisest choice either. What do you think??

Interesting Ads

Here are some interesting ads that I found which made me stop and stare for a bit. Its not just a typical “i’m luvin’ it…” I think most of these ads wanted to use shock as an advertising tool to reach out to the public. Some of these are Non-Profit organizations which wants to raise awareness. I think these ads are effective in captivating the viewers attention, and although it isn’t necessarily a positive feeling you get, it definitely make you feel-

Farmville: FB game causes death

I understand that Facebook has become extremely popular and some people spend countless hours on it every week. Also, to my knowledge, another reason why people have spent more time on it is because of the addicting Facebook games. Today I came across a news article saying that  mother living in Jacksonville, Florida, shook her baby to death because the boy’s crying interrupted her focus on her game on Facebook (Farmville).  I personally have never tried this game but I don’t believe it was worth a child’s life. Quoted from the Florida Times-Union- “she told investigators that she was angered because the child was crying while she was playing. As a result she shook the boy, had a cigarette, and shook him again.” She was charged with second degree murder and could be in jail anywhere from 25-50 years.

I feel that this horrific news will negatively  impact Facebook’s image in an indirect way. Most people I think will blame this on the mother but others may even put some of the blame on Facebook. Others may simply shake their head in disbelief and say “WT@#$%?” I doubt Facebook will give a response to this, but if they do I am interested to hear what they have to say. Perhaps the next time Facebook is brought up in a conversation, someone will this up.
