My name is Amanda Burke and I am currently finishing up my degree at UBC. I completed my first two years of a business degree at Western University in London, Ontario, before coming home to Vancouver, and UBC, to complete my degree. I am obtaining and interdisciplinary degree from UBC with a focus on both Commerce and Psychology. I really enjoy both aspects of my degree, and find that they are much more related than people think. In my professional experience, I have often found my background in Psychology to come in handy almost as often as my business knowledge. I love interacting with other people and I think that we can learn so much from others if we are open to that possibility.

I currently work for a private lending firm called SNAP Financial Group. I started working there in July, and have been taking a few online courses this year to finish up my degree. I have enjoyed the online format, as it allows for flexibility, as long as you are responsible and well organized with your time. I am looking forward to this course as my writing skills have never been my strong suit, however I think communication with words is an incredibly powerful tool. I am excited for the opportunity to learn not only from the textbook and instructors, but from fellow students who come from many different backgrounds and all will have unique skills to bring to the (online) classroom.

Outside of work and school I enjoy being active in team sports, or just with friends. I love to get out and explore the wonderful nature that we are lucky to be surrounded by in BC. I also travel as much as I can, even just to visit friends all over Canada and the US.
