{"id":555,"date":"2012-11-27T11:04:40","date_gmt":"2012-11-27T18:04:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.students.ubc.ca\/access\/?p=555"},"modified":"2014-09-29T11:44:59","modified_gmt":"2014-09-29T18:44:59","slug":"staff-and-students-awarded-for-access-and-diversity-achievements","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/access\/2012\/11\/27\/staff-and-students-awarded-for-access-and-diversity-achievements\/","title":{"rendered":"Staff and students awarded for access and diversity achievements"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: left\">Two members of the UBC Access and\u00a0Diversity\u00a0community have recently received well-deserved recognition for their achievements,\u00a0receiving\u00a0awards highlighting the important role they play in advancing access and diversity across UBC. \u00a0The Access and Diversity team would like to publicly congratulate both Dr. Ruth Warick and Student Bowen Tang for their much appreciated contributions!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\"><!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\"><strong>Dr Ruth Warick \u2013 2012 President\u2019s Staff Award<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">Dr. Ruth Warick, Senior Diversity Advisor with Access &amp; Diversity has received a 2012 President Staff Award for her contribution advancing diversity and inclusion across the University.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">As Senior Diversity Advisor, Disability, with Access &amp;\u00a0Diversity, Dr. Warick has been a pioneer in promoting accessibility for diverse populations, particularly in disability services. She works with students, faculty and staff to make UBC physically more accessible, while changing attitudes and perception around disability in order to make the University into a more welcoming place.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">The President\u2019s Staff Award<strong> <\/strong>is well-deserved recognition of Dr. Warick\u2019s personal achievements and contributions to UBC and to the vision and goals of the University.
