1.\u00a0Definitions Assignment<\/a><\/p>\n

For the term “abstraction,” I wrote a sentence definition, a parenthetical definition, and an expanded definition. I learned how to define a technical word to an audience that may be unfamiliar with it. It is also important to understand who would make up that audience. This was one of the first assignments of the course and so it was the first piece that was peer reviewed and then self-edited.<\/p>\n

2.\u00a0Formal Report Proposal<\/a><\/p>\n

I proposed to “[increase]\u00a0the number of candidates running for executive positions in the BCS Club.” \u00a0It was challenging for me to\u00a0define the scope so that it would be broad enough to fill out the required page length, but also narrow and specific enough to give me a direction in where my research should go.<\/p>\n

3.\u00a0Complaint Letter<\/a><\/p>\n

This hypothetical complaint letter demonstrates the proper use of the “You-Attitude.” Although it was hypothetical, it was still tailored after a real-life incident that I have experienced. I learned that when complaining, it is best to stick to the facts and give an account of what happened. This way, it is easier to remain professional and respectful.<\/p>\n

4.\u00a0You Attitude Peer Review<\/a><\/p>\n

I am quite proud of this review because it changed my perspective and writing style. This reinforced proper use of the “You-Attitude” and I learned about gerunds which is when the verb functions as the subject by adding \u201c-ing\u201d at the end.<\/p>\n
