I saw a lot of price volatility this week and therefore was forced to consult a few websites which provided data on corn prices. I have listed some of these cool websites in the references section.1, 2, 3Although, these references are great and informative, I would advise everyone to assess the data critically and consult more than one source, just so that you guys don’t lose money the way I did this week. Another interesting development this week was of the publishing of the report. It was rather pertinent that we covered a similar question in the assignment which asked us to comment on the impacts reports may have on prices. As I had predicted, the report did have implications and it caused great price volatility. I got the information of the report release from Ishrat and it was published by USDA on September 28, 2012, in which it had predicted a 12 percent decline in corn prices.

This week I discovered a website by the name of farm progress and ended by referring to it a lot. The website allows browsers to see the daily change in prices in corn market for a number of contracts. It was particularly helpful as it kept me informed of the subtle changes in prices.3
