The Art History Students’ Association (AHSA) and the Visual Arts Students’ Association (VASA) would like to invite you to our FREE Welcome Back BBQ on Tuesday, September 7th. The BBQ will run from 11:30 AM-1:00 PM outside of Lasserre, and will be a great chance to get to know the AHSA and VASA teams, other students and faculty, all while enjoying some delicious food !
Both AHSA and VASA will be offering memberships at $5 each or $8 if you sign up for both clubs. Memberships are an essential form of funding for the clubs and allow us to hold lots of great events throughout the year.
If you can’t make it, AHSA will be having its annual general meeting (AGM) on Tuesday September 14th at 1:00PM in Lasserre 107.
Hope to see you there!

Dear Students,
AHSA is currently looking for new executive members. If you would like to be a part of the team that runs the Art History Undergraduate Symposium, Careers in the Arts Fair and lots of other great arts-related events, then read-on!
AHSA seeks to provide a forum for the discussion and exploration of art historical issues, connect students with arts-related opportunities in the Vancouver area, and represent students’ interests to the department and the rest of UBC. For a bit more about us you can visit our blog at: https://blogs.ubc.ca/ahsa/
Events & Jobs that may be of interest:
– Maintaining the AHSA blog & Facebook page
– Overseeing the monthly AHSA newsletter – this could include writing articles for publication and/ or doing the layout for the newsletter.
– Research Workshops
– Organizing Arts Films 101 – monthly screenings of arts related films
– The Careers in the Arts Fair (October or January) – help bring professionals working in the arts to UBC for two evenings where they will speak about their experiences working in the arts and answer students’ burning questions about what they can do after graduation.
– The 7th Annual Undergraduate Symposium – be part of the team that reads, selects and helps students present exceptional papers to Art History faculty and students
…or if you have any other great ideas for events that you would like to organize we are open to your suggestions.
AHSA understands that the demands of school plus extra-curricular commitments can be overwhelming so if you feel you may only be able to commit to a single event.
If you are interested in being part of the executive email us at ubcahsa@gmail.com by July 27th. Please tell us a little about yourself, why you are interested in being part of AHSA, and specify which events/ activities interest you.
Thank-you,
The Art History Students’ Association
