6th Annual Art History Undergraduate Symposium

It’s almost time for our annual symposium!!

This year the event takes place on Friday, March 5th in Lasserre Room 104 beginning at 4:30pm with a reception commencing around 7:30pm.  This is the best event of the year and we are very excited for it to be so close!

The UBC Art History Undergraduate Symposium provides a unique opportunity to experience a major part of work in the field and enjoy the company of professors outside of class time.  Six students will present papers with innovative ideas or approaches to an audience comprising students, professors and members of the public.  There will ample opportunity to ask questions and make comments.  As well, refreshments will be provided at intermission and the event will be followed by a reception.

The six presenters this year are:
Allison Mander
Kristyna Zemanova
Alexandra Turnbull
Sophia Zweifel
Claudia Perdero
Elise Stella

If you are interested in art history and want to see what kind of cool ideas the undergrads at UBC have please join us!

Graduate-Undergraduate Coffee House + End Of Term Drinks

We’re hosting an info session/undergrad+grad student hang out session.  Free coffee, snacks and hopefully insight!

Thursday, December 3rd 5:00PM, Grad student lounge (Lasserre 204)

This Thursday at 5:00, the Art History Students Association is hosting a coffee house with our department’s graduate students.  This is an opportunity to meet fellow Art History undergrads, as well as get to know students working towards MAs and Phds in both Art History and Curatorial Studies.  Come with all of your questions and curiosities about grad school, and enjoy some free coffee and snacks while engaging in a discussion about where your pursuits in academia may lead you.  Whether you are already applying to programs, or just curious to see what grad school is all about, a casual information session such as this is the perfect place to have answered all your questions about the application process, how graduate programs are structured, information about different universities, or the graduate study workload and lifestyle.

Come check out some new art and have a drink with us at Koerner2

Friday, December 4th 5:00 PM, Lasserre Lobby

On Friday, December 4th, celebrate the last day of classes by joining the Art History Students Association on a visit to the Koerner art gallery to see the Visual Arts 480-Advanced Seminar course’s exhibition of final works.  After the show, we will be heading to Koerners Pub for some drinks to celebrate the end of the semester.
