Mistreating workers? No!

In the article of “Wal-Mart Is Being Pressed to Disclose How Global Suppliers Treat Workers“, it can be clearly seen that, in order to get higher profits, Wal-Mart’s international suppliers mistreat their employees. They are forced to work longer hours but end up with lower payment; they are deprived of the ability to possess worker rights in a safe workplace. Actually, the international suppliers overlooks business ethics as they give up the welfare of employees for the so-called profits. The vanish of morality in the market not only subjects people’s lives to danger but also destroys the business climate.

Profits and business ethics always work together. There is no conflict between these two words, but they are connected.  Only if the suppliers ensure workers’ rights as well as their safety, employees are more willing to make their efforts to produce the best products.  Only if these kind of high-quality goods satisfy consumers, the firm is able to make a large amount of profit. Therefore, paying attention to business ethics is always the right thing to do.
