Summary: As of late, sustainability and environmentally-friendly has been a hot topic as it should be. As the article stated: “Imagine if there was something the world was producing a lot of, and it was essential for the future of the planet to figure out how to produce less of it. ” and” everyday decisions in some small but measurable way contributed to producing more or less of this problematic thing” Finding a solution is key.
I believe that method suggested by the article could be very effective and its simple: Use a Econ 101 principle. Want less of something? Tax it. Use the revenue created by the tax to lower taxes of things we want more of. I feel that sustainability is an extremely important part of today’s lifestyle and it would be foolish to ignore environmental issues and the hand of economic profits. That would come back to bit us. Hard. In highschool, I was lucky enough to have an opportunity to participate in the Institute for Global Solution Program that focused on finding better alternatives to fossil fuels and reducing our carbon footprint. From a business prospective, this field is waiting to be cultivated. Going green will be the way of the future and proactively participating in increasing sustainability will reap moral and financial benefits.
