This is my opinion of Astor’s new Ad…..
Interestingly enough, the idea is unique, I will give it that. In reality and the current world movement with feminism, pronounced by Emma Watson’s speech at the United Nations, I believe that an effort should be made to embody equality and rather than taking extreme measures to enforce it. Small acts like this sly marketing strategy may seem viable and add an unique flare to Jack Astor, but at what costs? This small acts of seemingly innocent wit, build up it’s plain and simple. This is strongly related to one of the very first classes we had in COMM 101: Business Ethics. While make profits and becoming financially successful is important and should be striven for, making those profits ethically and embracing that equality is of UPMOST importance. Others may look at this differently, but I feel that these small acts can turn into the “straw that broke the camel’s back”.
In regards to the financial stand point, I would encourage innovative ideas that can stimulate growth within the customer base resulting in economic profits. I would begin to question who’s fault is it really? Is the company just giving what the customers want? Maybe the problem lies much deeper that just the surface of advertisement. Morally perhaps.
