LinkedIn Best Practices Memo

The LinkedIn Best Practices memo was an assignment requiring students to read research articles about LinkedIn, and create a list of ten best practices for professional networking on the site. The information was meant to be presented in a memo to our writing team.

I found this assignment to be especially rewarding. While I have had a LinkedIn profile for almost eight years, I had never previously done any research to figure out how to make it as effective as possible. I discovered techniques while working on this assignment that I was unaware of before. For example, I had not realized that maintaining between 150 and 400 connections was important. Writing a headline, and including interests and hobbies were also aspects of a profile I had not considered. Once I have some more time on my hands, I will absolutely be updating my profile with this list in mind!
