Lately I’ve been thinking of ways in which I can incorporate my inquiry question into my long practicum. I want to facilitate an instance (or ideally a continuation of instances) where students from my practicum class can meet seniors within our community. The language arts unit in my long practicum will be on fractured fairy tales and I thought this might be a wonderful opportunity to incorporate intergenerational learning. My general idea is that in groups, students will create their own versions of fairy tales and will have to present them orally. They may choose to do a short dramatic piece, a storybook which they can read aloud, a puppet show or some other form of presentation – as long as it can be performed. After speaking with my SA I emailed a few seniors centres in the area and hope to hear back soon!
