We followed a UN-inspired approach to learning about rights vs wants, which dove-tailed into a investigation of the UN Charter of Children’s Rights. To culminate our learning students were paired with a peer from a different grade and asked to choose one developed and one developing country. Using the graphing skills we learned in math, students made a series of graphs comparing statistics in the countries. Needless to say students were blown away by the inequality children suffer within these countries.
