The statistics of Social Media are absolutely mind-boggling. I remember Tamar opening a discussion on the top social trends of our times. I think one trend that overshadows every single aspect of CDSTEP is Social Media.
You’ve probably heard everything I already said before. There’s nothing new about it now is it?
But while reading a blog by Ignite Social Media’s Jim Tobin you come across some startling facts about the potential of social media in China, which I realized does not even use most of these websites!
Did you know where Mark Zuckerberg Vacationed?

The potential of Social Media as a force is highlighted by Jim towards the end where he mentions new social media concepts like Lihua, BabyTree etc.
Even existing websites used by Chinese alone are populous enough to be the world leader in their category.
Look at Tencent(their version of Facebook) which actually has more users than Facebook!
Zhenai, a match making website, charges $450(really high even for Canadians who have a higher GDP than the Chinese) for only 6 months and still manages to be number 1 in the world.
The point I’m trying to make is that China represents an enormous market for western social media outlets. It would be very interesting to see where we end up if China alters it’s censorship laws towards the internet and allows western media to integrate with them.
