Unit 2 Reflection

Researching and creating a LinkedIn Profile

For assignment 2.2, we were tasked to research and create a post regarding the best practices of LinkedIn. Having had a LinkedIn account since my first degree, I have used the platform to showcase my experience and qualifications. In addition, I have used the platform to find new opportunities, network with current and former co-workers and learn new skills. However, this assignment allowed me to dive deeper into what goes into an effective LinkedIn profile and experience. Through this assignment, I learn better techniques and tips on how to make my LinkedIn more effective towards employers. With these techniques and tips, I made changes to my existing profile and now with the tips I had read and implemented, my profile has become better. As someone who plans to become a Software Engineer and one day, a business owner, I am excited to see where my LinkedIn profile takes me.

Peer Review Process

The peer review process has allowed me to look at my writing in a different light. I have been able to see what some of my strengths and weaknesses are through peer review, as well as see different writing techniques through some of my peer’s writings. I was able to implement and improve upon many improvements Varneega had pointed out to me. One improvement I was able to improve upon was adding more background knowledge to the company I was writing to. She pointed out that a preface to the company, Jasper, would be important to readers and provides sufficient background knowledge to the proposal. Another area I continue to struggle but improve upon is my grammar and spelling. I have always struggled with grammatical and spelling errors, but because of peer review’s, I am able to see it more transparently. With all this in mind, I would say the peer review process is a helpful and effective writing tool to strengthen an individual’s writing. My writing has strongly benefited from peer reviews, and I look forward to more!
