(Human Resources)

Human resources is the word which always shows up in the business life, and it also is an essential part of a company’s operation. By following this, human resources is able to be identified as all staffs in the company put efforts together in order to operate and organize the company to perform better. However, I learned a lot about this idea during the lecture 18, this way, it encourages me to read explore more knowledge about human resources.

Human Resources Management(HRM) and Human Resource Development(HRD) are two different concepts which confused me at the start. After I did the research on both HRM and HRD, I recognized the difference among those two terms. HRM is the system which “concerned with managing people at work so that they can give best results to the organisation” (Difference Between HRM and HRD), and HRD “refers to the development of people working in an organisation” (Difference Between HRM and HRD). To simplify, HRM always deals with the human resources while HRD is improving the development of all employees from the company. Hence, two of those concepts are going to manage the company through a positive way.

Moreover, human resources as an organizational function, people cannot deny that it plays such a significant role in business. To be more specific, human resources covers “supervision, leadership, management, and performance management” (What is a Human Resource). From my personal perspective, due to human resource is important to a company, therefore, each company must have high expectations on their employees who are part of human resources. Hence, for the purpose of hiring more high-quality worker in human resources department, I believe that every company might establish their specific education requirement. Besides, I suggest the company to have a few weeks of training for their new employees, and they could find more methods to motivate their workers. According to the video from class 18, Zappos is an excellent example in this case. To illustrate, one of policies from Zappos company is able to be taken. Zappos company will frequently hold competitions for fun, which reduces the stress from such a great amount of work. Meanwhile, it not only builds a communicate bridge among each employee, but it also improves their creativities as well.

Overall, human resources keeps a company’s distinctive value, and a good human resource department is also able to increasing the reputation of the company itself. As far as I am concerned, every company has to pay more attention on their human resources department due to it will help the company perform better and also make some important decisions at the meantime.

Entrepreneurship in Business

Entrepreneurship is “the capacity and willingness to develop, organize and manage a business venture along with any of its risks in order to make a profit”. According to my classmate (Crystal)’s blog, she states that people are more likely to have their own choices in controlling their own business (Marketing and Entrepreneurship). By following this, it is able to encourage more and more people nowadays to establish their personal entrepreneurship in current years. From my own perspective, those people also need to consider plenty of factors before they start their own entrepreneurship, and then analyzing whether the entrepreneurship is for them or not.

To illustrate, the purpose of beginning an entrepreneurship is to earn profit from it. Otherwise, it is wasteful to set up a business if the entrepreneur does not help them gain any benefits. By following this, it is also essential to become a successful entrepreneurship, which mean that the entrepreneur “requires a business planning, innovation and risk-taking”. Despite that all entrepreneurs have the “freedom and the independence” to use ideas from themselves, they are still required to consider about whether their ideas are useful enough for a new-started company or not. Hence, younger entrepreneurs need to have a concern about which type of business that they are interested.

Moreover, starting someone’s own business is always being a hard thing to do, and it also is a challenge for them to make their personal decisions at the meantime. All of decisions that the entrepreneur are going to make, will directly bring effects on the company. To be more specific, some smaller decisions may only influence a few changes in the company’s total profit, however, bigger decisions are able to affect whole company’s operation. Under this case, it is better for those new entrepreneurs to consider if they have ability to operate their company positively in the future, and whether they are familiar with the business policies.

Overall, as Crystal mentioned in her blog, entrepreneurship is a widespread business, which means the entrepreneur can attract a great amount of entrepreneurs to take part in this area. Personally, I am also interested in exploring my own entrepreneurship even if it is quite risky to most people. After I had lecture in talking about entrepreneurship, I began to have a deeper view on this topic. As far as I am concerned, entrepreneurship can be an excellent method for exploring one’s potentials, and also finding their own development by throughout their own company’s progresses.

How to Build a Better Team

(Teamwork)

Teamwork is the word that is always placed around in the business area, and it is able to be defined as a group of people are efficiently working together in order to achieve a higher expectation and goal. When a new team is forming, all members from the team start to get know with each other. However, as everyone knows that they all have their distinct characteristics and ideas, therefore it will cause the existence of conflicts among each other in the group. This way, all team members need to put efforts together, and build a better team structure.

In a teamwork, each member has to take their own responsibility, hence they will get the opportunity to have a deeper understanding in what the group work is. “Teamwork in the workplace involves cooperation among workers” (Lewis, (n.d.), para. 3), which demonstrates that all workers are required to contribute fairly. In another word, managing and making sure that everyone receives the right amount of work are significant to the whole group, hence the leader has to consider about whether the work is distributed evenly or not (Knight, 2017, para. 3). Due to the fact that people would like to do the job which they are interested in, so the leader needs to hold a meeting before assigning the work. Under each member’s will, they are going to work harder to make the group preform effectively.

However, people who finish early can also assist others (Knight, 2017, para. 8), thus all members from the group are binding together, and the group can move to a higher-level stage. Furthermore, having a plan and making rules for the team are essential approaches for building an efficient team as well, so that everyone knows they “must devote time to it” and also complete it on time (Knight, 2017, para. 4). To illustrate, while rules have been established, it represents the existence of punishment as well. By following this, it leads people feel stress, which can also encourage them to start their responses.

As far as I am concerned, teamwork is always good for someone to learn about sharing ideas and accepting other’s ideas. A group of people to achieve same goals and expectations is much easier than people to achieve by themselves. From a business perspective, teamwork also teaches individual how to work and communicate well with others, and people cannot deny that being flexible is such an necessary skill in a business life. Overall, teamwork plays a significant role, but how to make team work better is the process that each member has to experience.

Business Plan and Business Ethics of Apple Company

A worldwide cooperation always contains numerous business histories, and Apple company is a great example in this case. Due to the fact that more and more young people nowadays become big fans of products from Apple, hence the company is able to gain a great amount of profits from their customers. In addition, novelties of its system and the model lead Apple company to be successful, which also bring up company’s reputation in the whole world. However, this blog is going to introduce business plans and business ethics of Apple by throughout my business perspective.

First of all, according to the article, “Apple in 2017”, it basically illustrates that 2017 is a big year to Apple due to the innovative products come out in 2017 (Reisinger, 2016, para. 2). To be more specific, customers can easily notice that iPhone 7 upgraded its system based on the older iPhone, therefore, the company announced that they would make a major update on the newest one. In 2017, both iPhone 8 and iPhone X came out in September, and new products have completed “with an all-glass body” as the “company’s 10th anniversary handset” (Reisinger, 2016, para. 2). Because of the better performance and power system from the new iPhone, it will lead the company to reach its new record high. Furthermore, the company also established other milestones such as they decided to produce iPhone in India in the spring of 2017 (Reisinger, 2017, para. 3). Thus, it obvious that the business plan helps identify what the next step of the company is, and also motivates the company to achieve high expectations from customers by developing their products.

Furthermore, as a remarkable company, their business ethics must be represented positively in front of the public. To be more specific, Apple “has a very current, leading-edge brand”, therefore it forces the company to undertake both environmental and social responsibility (Reisinger, 2017, para. 7). When Apple wants to create a better software, hence the company probability needs their clients’ information as much as possible. Besides, some of the personal information are more private and detailed, which contain customers’ email, phone number, and credit card number. By following this, whether the company should collect customers’ private information becomes a controversial issue. Later, for the purpose of gaining 100% trust from clients, Apple “end-to-end encrypt iMessage and Facetime” in order to avoid the happening of information disclosures.

As far as I am concerned, despite that there is the existence of asking private question, Apple company still provides choices to their customers. To illustrate, the client is able to decide whether they want to enter the private information or not, which gives them free choice. However, both the business plan and business ethics from Apple company provide an excellent model to other new entrepreneurships.

Importance of Business Ethics

Business ethics is a term which is always mentioned in commercial area. To be more specific, this idea is the “moral principle that guide the way a business behaves” (Business Ethics and Corporate Social Responsibility), and it also helps people determine whether their personal actions is apply to the business or not.

To illustrate, due to the existence of business ethics, therefore it creates the benefit for both merchants and consumers to make right choices. For example, the government established the limitation on working age, hence the company is unable to hire students under the certain age especially during school hours (Government of Ontario). By following this, business ethics not only restrict employers to hire their employees through an illegal way, but it also reminds employees to obey the regulations. Therefore, it clearly states the importance of business ethics at the meantime, which can promote a company with a better reputation in front of the public.

In order to distinguish the different values of each company, the corporation might build their own statements and standards. However, despite that business principles could be listed in many distinct ways, efforts from both employees and employers are always determine whether the company can be successful or not. Therefore, taking care of the employees seems to be another business ethics to the employer as well. According to the article, “Business Ethics and Corporate Social Responsibility”, which demonstrates that most companies in American have the duty to ensure the security and human rights of their employees (Business Ethics and Corporate Social Responsibility). Employees only want to work for a corporation that they trust, and hence it is able to lead the company to be more efficient.

Obviously, business is a widespread term, which means that the company could be linked to agribusiness, industrial, and environmental business. Even if the main purpose of a company is to make a large amount of profits, however, it is not representing that they have the opportunity to expense numerous energies around. A long-term business always needs to consider about others by using their business ethics (Business Ethics and Corporate Social Responsibility). To be more specific, increasing pressures on employees and forcing them to achieve the goal for the whole corporation are the concept against business ethics.

As far as I am concerned, business ethics help consumers to measure the moral and values of each company from a business perspective. To explain, whether a black-market decides to sell marijuana nor not, it depends on his business ethics. As same, business ethics of the consumer help them determine if they should purchase it or not. By following this, business ethics can be measured in numerous ways, but it bases on people’s personal worldviews. Business will not be static, but business ethics can identify whether the company is long-term or short-term.
