My name is Alirod Ameri and I am a fourth-year biology student in the Faculty of Science at UBC. This summer I am taking two courses (ENGL 301 and FNH 355). After completing both these courses, I will be eligible for graduation in November 2021.
I grew up in Coquitlam, BC and started attending UBC Vancouver in September 2017 after graduating from Gleneagle Secondary. My degree has been primarily concentrated in the areas of environmental sciences, ecology and evolutionary biology. Outside of these science courses, I have also taken several political science and English courses in the past, such as ENGL 110, ENGL 112 and ENGL 333.
During the past few years, I have worked for and been involved with a number of different organizations at UBC. From 2018 to 2019, I worked at the Beaty Biodiversity Museum, and just this past year I worked at BC Children’s Hospital Research Institute. This summer I am working for UBC Residence Life as an office assistant, a role which I greatly enjoy due to my past experience as a Residence Advisor in Marine Drive.
Some of my personal interests are graphic design and photography. I previously served as a photographer for The Calendar, and did design work for organizations like UBC’s annual Student Leadership Conference. Currently, I am co-host of the radio show Research Review on CITR 101.9 FM. Our show is broadcast every other Wednesday from 6 – 7 pm.
In the near future, I hope to attend law school. I actually received an offer of admission at the University of Alberta for this September, but I rejected it since I would like to have a chance to finish my undergraduate degree and attend a school in BC.
