What courses will you be teaching at Allard in 2018-2019?

Japanese Law, Comparative Constitutional Law, Cyberspace Law, Freedom of Expression, Introduction to Asian Legal Systems

What are your research interests?

I am especially interested in issues in cyberspace law and freedom of expression law. But I regularly make research on any aspects of Japanese law and constitutional law in Japan, Canada or United States.

What is your non-law dream job?

Pretty much happy with my academic life.

What is your favourite book or movie?

John Hart Ely, Democracy and Distrust: Theory of Judicial Review (it provided me a theoretical backbone for my constitutional thought)

What is your favourite judicial decision and why?

United States v. Carolene Products Co. in the United States. This is a good place to start all the discussions on the judicial activism.

What’s a UBC Campus hidden gem that more people should know about?

Nitobe Garden. You got to visit it.
