{"id":54,"date":"2021-10-23T17:15:37","date_gmt":"2021-10-24T00:15:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/alliesstudy\/?p=54"},"modified":"2022-03-17T12:56:00","modified_gmt":"2022-03-17T19:56:00","slug":"welcome","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/alliesstudy\/2021\/10\/23\/welcome\/","title":{"rendered":"Welcome"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Purpose of this study:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The primary p<span style=\"font-size: 1rem;\">urpose <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1rem;\">is to consider how social support plays a role in the everyday life of older adults including the impact on their health behaviours and goals set together with a study partner like a spouse, a friend, an adult child, or another social tie.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Who can take part?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>People aged 60 or older who live in BC plus a study partner (above the age of 18).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>What&#8217;s involved?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>You will be asked to approach a person you feel close to, who you interact with on a regular basis, who cares about your health, who lives close by and who you can turn to for support. They can be any age above 18.<\/li>\n<li>Schedule two virtual appointment or online conference call on Zoom with our research assistants (one to start and the other to end).<\/li>\n<li>Complete 90-150 minute self paced online survey.<\/li>\n<li>Complete brief 5 to 20 minute morning and evening surveys for a period of ten days.<\/li>\n<li>Complete a blood draw at a Lifelab of your choice.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In total, the study takes approximately 10 hours.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What&#8217;s in it for you?<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Each partner can choose to receive a gift card or receive a physical activity tracker.<\/li>\n<li>A personalized health feedback letter is provided to each participant.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Please email allies@psych.ubc.ca or call us at (604) 822-3549 if you have any questions.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Purpose of this study: The primary purpose is to consider how social support plays a role in the everyday life of older adults including the impact on their health behaviours and goals set together with a study partner like a spouse, a friend, an adult child, or another social tie.
