I am Alroy Huo (she/her/hers), an international student majoring in IDST and aims to graduate in August. I am passionate about languages and cultures that come along with languages. I speak Mandarin as my first language, and I could communicate and write well in English. I can also understand Cantonese and some basic Spanish.
I am very active, and I enjoy all kinds of outdoor activities all year round. I am a big fan of ultimate frisbee and snowboarding. I also like hiking and paddling in the summer seasons. I like to go on adventures and explore nature with my husky.
Academically and professionally, I am a little bit anxious at this stage since I will finish my degree in two months and step into the “career stage,” but I do not feel like I am ready for that yet. While I took English courses as my primary study within IDST, I never really look at the course syllabus about ENGL 301; I thought it is just an upper-level ENGL 112 course. However, after I went through the course syllables of ENGL 301 at the end of April, I knew this is the course that would get me more prepared for my subsequent stage.
I expect to acquire all the learning objectives in this course. I hope by the end of the term, I will be able to write and communicate professionally. Most importantly, I want to be ready and prepared psychologically as well.
