Dear Lord Stanley,
Why does playoff season have to be the same time as finals season? I swear, playoff hockey is going to be the death of my marks.
But on the brighter note, GO CANUCKS GO! We’re currently up 3-0 in the series against the deadly Chicago Blackhawks for the Western Conference Quarter-Finals. The entire city is buzzing with non-hockey fans jumping on the bandwagon, ‘Nucks flags up on many vehicles, and the explosion of cheers and high-fives when a goal is scored by one of our very own boys.
This is our time.
It’s our 40th anniversary.
We were #1 in the league during the normal season (President’s Trophy!!).
We have a pretty darn good (and good lookin’) team. 🙂
Apparently, in the past, the year after a Canadian city hosts the Olympics, they win the Stanley Cup. We hosted the 2010 Olympics last year. I hope I’m not being too suggestive…
But regardless, when you look at the technicality of our team and break it down, we’re freakin’ amazing. Under the humble leadership of both the Sedins, the immense improvement in Luongo’s game (physically, mentally and emotionally), the terrific skills of players like Kesler, Burrows, Ehrhoff (and Edler and Raymond and Samuelsson and Hansen and I can go on and on…), it shouldn’t be a shocker that we’ll go far in this post-season era. If we make it all the way, this would be the first time the Canucks bring home the Cup in franchise history. Wow. That gave me shivers.
History will be made, and it will be made by us this time. Wave that towel and put on your jersey, Nucks fans! It’s going to be a long playoff run (fingers crossed).
