DataMed’s operations will become more strategic due to increased automation and dependency on IT for operations; the use of Microsoft Dynamics aids the analysis of patient information by generating most prominent issues, concerns, and providing predictions of upcoming needs. This fulfills DataMed’s value proposition in understanding the Chinese Demographic in their needs and wants and creating a more personal relationship with patients to extend outside of the physical DataMed office.
Microsoft Dynamics is customizable, provides flexibility, and incurs about 8.4% of annual revenue. (Appendix 10) It fulfills DataMed’s needs with minimal complication, easy operations, and works on a monthly payment plan after implementation. It also allows for easy software upgrades if necessary (Appendix 5). DataMed is planning on expanding in the future, and MD could facilitate growth while keeping costs low.
Economically, by implementing Microsoft dynamics CRM, it will allow for “better customer methodology functionality, automatic processes, and in-depth client knowledge features.” All these functions help in the patient service workers (doctors and nurses) perform daily job activities more efficiently with the most up-to-date information. While overhead costs are estimated to be quite stable, Microsoft Dynamics CRM solution is expected to increase revenue, because of the fact that, automatic processes help reduce the daily output of hours spent on administrative tasks. Especially in the case of doctors, by reducing the administrative tasks, it allows for the time saved to be spent on patient appointments. DataMed, being a private clinic charges an appointment fee of $20. (Appendix 12) The Microsoft Dynamics CRM is estimated to save doctors approximately 1.5 hours in administrative tasks. With 30 doctors on hand at DataMed, this allows for approximately 16,380 hours saved from administrative work for the whole year. (Appendix 13) The average appointment can take 20 minutes and taking that into consideration DataMed can expect an increase in revenue of $982,800. (Appendix 14)
Operationally and technically, the implementation of this new technology is feasible as Microsoft Dynamics has proven to be practical and reliable. DataMed needs a system that is patient facing to analyze and process the gathered data rather than simply storing it and Microsoft Dynamics is a very suitable system. Using the data mining tools and business intelligence of the MD system, DataMed can find patterns between the patients and their health issues from the assessments and feedback forms. The new technology will bring a new approach to Datamed’s way of providing service since it allows DataMed to better understand patient’s needs and provide a way for patient’s to communicate with the staff outside of being at the physical DataMed location.
DataMed will be hiring 4 IT consultants who are experienced industry professionals who will develop a solution for DataMed and advise DataMed in order to meet their business goals. In addition, the new CTO will assist the CIO and the IT team in implementing the system, integrating the system, and operating the system. Because DataMed already has some IT in place and is already using an Electronic Health Record, additional IT will require training but DataMed employees are already exposed and comfortable with technological assistance. In regards to ethical and legal issues, DataMed still holds confidentiality as one of it’s main virtues, and the new system continues to keep all information private and secure.
