This is me:
[Ninja-kicking on top of Mount Benson.]
This is some stuff you might want to know about me:
Full name: Amanda Jane Christina Hunter
DOB: February 6, 1988
Hometown: Kamloops, BC
Previous success at actually keeping up with a blog: Mediocre at best… but I’ve got a good feeling about this one.
Why I love good food: For its ability to bring people together in times of sorrow and celebration, for how great it makes my body feel, and last but certainly not least, for how ridiculously delicious it can be.
Free time: Bikes or hikes, chopping veggies, tasty beer and treats with friends, books about other parts of the world, discovering new music
Paid time: Meal Program Coordinator/Cook at Inner City Women’s Initiatives Society, Server at Jolly’s Indian Bistro
[Whipping up a giant batch of Pad Thai at the Downtown Eastside Women’s Centre kitchen.]
Cooking style: Highly experimental
Go-to party trick: The worm
Nerdiest childhood accomplishment: Won a trip to Montreal in a French spelling bee, age 11
Happy place(s):
- Snuggled up in a tent next to a lake
- In a kitchen with great ingredients and a glass of wine
- On top of a mountain with well-deserved treats and my heart beating hard
- Surrounded by my amazing friends and family
[Family time can get a little silly.]
Most watched on Netflix: Chef’s Table, OITNB, Life/Human Planet/Planet Earth, terrible rom-coms, old episodes of Parks & Rec
Moment I realized I might be getting old: In the middle of a recent conversation with a friend about what the kids are listening to these days and what the term “EDM” could possibly stand for
Unbreakable habits: Kitchen dance parties, jumping pictures, staying up for “just ten more minutes” until way too late, putting too much cinnamon in everything, over-editing blog posts, showing endless photos/videos of my nieces and nephews to unsuspecting victims
Worst hair cut: Bowl cut, age 9
Why I’m excited to be in dietetics: I’m thrilled to be part of this group of amazing people with such diverse backgrounds and interesting ideas, as we work on building careers doing what we love!
