About me

Hello!

My name is Amina. I am originally from Montreal, but have been living in Vancouver for about four years. After completing my Master of Science in Population and Public Health at UBC in 2018, I began working in my current position as an Epidemiologist at the BC Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC).

I am an epidemiologist with a strong background in molecular neurobiology and statistics. I am passionate about using data analysis and visualisation to work in service of vulnerable populations and the public at large. I have worked extensively with large and diverse healthcare datasets, and led numerous evaluation and research projects, as evidenced by my publication history.

Much of my work involves crunching numbers and using statistics to help identify and control disease outbreaks, but I am deeply interested in using media and communications to increase the impact of our public health and health promotion efforts.
