When not playing maidservant to my cat or climbing mountains I cannot get down, I am\u00a0busy pursuing a degree in Computer Science at UBC. \u00a0Why Computer Science? \u00a0Besides its ability to help sate my curiosity, it seems like a good move both creatively and financially. \u00a0As part of my degree, I am currently co-oping as an iOS Developer. \u00a0The role is intimidating and fun.<\/p>\n

Once I am finished my\u00a0degree, I hope to change the world in some small way. Most likely by tidying up a little corner of the world wide web through algorithms and well-chosen fonts.<\/p>\n

Before returning to school, I\u00a0worked in museums for over ten years as a Collections Manager. \u00a0There I was given the opportunity to catalogue artefacts and archival material, most recently concerning Japanese internment in Canada during World War II.<\/p>\n

Two museum projects I\u00a0began that make me\u00a0glow with pride are the museum’s podcast titled: Sounds Japanese Canadian to Me;<\/em>\u00a0where I researched, wrote, co-hosted and edited each show before leaving in August, 2014. \u00a0And the museum’s blog titled: Lost and Found;<\/em>\u00a0where each weekday I posted a historical photograph\u00a0asking the audience to help identify the photograph’s people and places.<\/p>\n

Before segueing into the world of museums, I\u00a0attended UVic where I earned a bachelor’s degree in History in Art and later a Master’s of Philosophy degree in Art History specializing in Medieval Art from the University of Glasgow. \u00a0My\u00a0thesis focused on \u00a0Philip the Bold, the first Duke of Burgundy, and the conquest of his lands through the patronage of art. \u00a0(Riveting stuff.)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
