Alright, kids. Tay Tay here. I’m writing this, it\u2019s late, and apparently these JUSTIN MCELROY MOMENTS are contagious. I\u2019m one beer in and forgive me, Konfidentialites, because I apparently suck at blogging now.<\/p>\n

The latest buzzword to hit HackVille is \u201cDisendorsement” and it\u2019s being thrown around like a Kanye remix<\/a> today (that Kimye reference was accidental, I swear). In this edition of Dishing on Disendorsements [Ed note: It’s just Dis-… ah, forget it.<\/em>], we bring you The Ubyssey<\/em> and Harsev Oshan.<\/p>\n

DISENDORSEMENT:<\/strong> The Ubyssey<\/em>
\nDISENDORSED BY:<\/strong> Ekateryna, Harsev, Montana (?), Hans, Katherine, Spilling T<\/em>, everyone who wasn’t endorsed<\/p>\n

The Ubyssey<\/em> has produced more unicorns this cycle than AMS Confidential<\/a> since the exodus of the unicorn slayer. What they have also done is pissed a bunch of people off today for being “mean” like a Taylor Swift song, so they’ve all decided to now “disendorse” The\u00a0Ubyssey<\/em>, which is obviously going to make for a great relationship with The Campus Media if they\u2019re elected, but that\u2019s another scandal for November or something.<\/p>\n

Ugh, I\u2019m tired, let\u2019s let Facebook do the rest of the talking:<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>and then she went on and on<\/a>, and other people jumped in on the action. Like Hans.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Note: all the people who have \u201cliked\u201d this so far are people who didn\u2019t get endorsed (or who got endorsed less thoroughly than they would have liked [Tanner]).<\/p>\n

And then there\u2019s former hacks, who The Ubyssey also never endorsed.<\/p>\n

And finally, the Other Campus Media Besides Us who wasn’t endorsed by The Ubyssey last year also disendorsed them.<\/p>\n

Now, while everyone was out disendorsing the newspaper, the newspaper was actually only disendorsing one candidate. Which brings us to our next disendorsement.<\/p>\n

The last time The Ubyssey<\/em> disendorsed someone it was Ryan Trasolini, I think [Ed: And he also called the Wah-mbulance<\/em>]. If you are new to our blog he is a super hot-shot DJ and that makes him better off than the rest of the former AUS Presidents. Anyway, recap.\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n

Earlier, we disendorsed our first candidate. And then our second. And now, for the first time probably ever, this is a Double Disendorsement. Why? Because The Ubyssey<\/em> beat us to it<\/a>\u00a0and disendorsed Harsev Oshan for BoG rep.\u00a0We told you, disendorsements: so hot right now.<\/p>\n

\"\"Harsev\u2019s retaliatory disendorsement<\/a> was basically this:<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m sorry one of my execs decided to leave money in the exec office for the weekend because it has proven to be a safe space over the years.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

A safe space…over..the..whaaat? Is this still the same office where like, every hack ever had a key to and would break in after the bars closed and drink until late with all their friends? The same office where a fire was started counting election ballots? The office with glass doors<\/span>?\u00a0The same office where many a makeout was had? Here’s a pic from our glory days:<\/p>\n

And then:<\/p>\n

For not attending some meetings – Serving students does not mean I should not give attention to my academics. I’m sorry if my academics take priority over AMS meetings sometimes.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Okay, this where I got all like WHAAAAA. Do you even know what the Board of Governors IS? It\u2019s like, a full time job. And the BoG meetings last ALL FUCKING DAY (just ask @ubysseynews) and you have to travel to Kelowna for some of them (on a private plane whatwhat) and you have to sit on subcommittees which have more meetings and you have to meet with students and go to consultations and just MEET MEET MEET all the time. And there are only five “real” meetings which produce all that work.<\/strong> Whew. I\u2019m getting tired just writing that run-on sentence.<\/p>\n

When asked what Harsev actually wants to do, he said he wants to have more consultations between BoG and students, and \u201cmake sure that international students do not fall through the cracks because of the bridge programme.\u201d I don\u2019t know what the bridge program is and I don\u2019t care. [Ed note: In this, Taylor is like many UBC students. It’s that intro program the university wants to put into place to help bring promising international students “up” to UBC level. Pros: would help transition people in, make a more diverse UBC community. Cons: Could be a thinly-veiled attempt to suck more money out of fat international wallets.<\/em>]<\/p>\n

But those aren\u2019t things to run on. If you are going to be putting your blood, sweat, and tears into some uber boring position you better fucking want it. Harsev sounds like he doesn\u2019t even know what he\u2019s getting himself into.<\/p>\n

Which is what started this whole damn thing: one time when I was sitting in The Gallery (RIP), I saw Mike Duncan and Sean Heisler meeting. And Mike was bringing Sean BINDERS. Not one, not two, I\u2019m talking a bunch of thick, black binders. Granted – this was before the iPad, but still.<\/p>\n

BINDERS FULL OF HACKERY.<\/p>\n

Binders full of boring documents that you have to pore over with bated breath.<\/p>\n

Binders full of secrets.<\/p>\n
