The core was quiet and sleepy. With very few people around, I had time to explore the streets by myself.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/amydo\/files\/2018\/07\/20180603_152658.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-162\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/amydo\/files\/2018\/07\/20180603_152658-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"750\" height=\"422\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/amydo\/files\/2018\/07\/20180603_152658-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/amydo\/files\/2018\/07\/20180603_152658-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/amydo\/files\/2018\/07\/20180603_152658-768x432.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 750px) 100vw, 750px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The city has a mix of old and new. The new buildings look like they&#8217;re straight from Singapore, and the old look like they&#8217;re out of New York.
