My Inquiry Paper

Grab a cup of coffee and find a comfy chair if you have time to dive into my inquiry paper. I focused my inquiry on mindfulness in the art classroom and how to use it to make exploration and mistakes a welcome part of the process of art making rather than things that make students nervous and uncomfortable. A lot of my research focused on specific techniques that could be added to classroom routine to encourage self-reflection rather than self-judgement in the students. Cultivating breath awareness was a basic introduction to the principles of mindfulness in the classroom, though in the short time I had in the classroom I found that modelling mindful behavior and re-wording judgmental phrases were the most effective daily tools in mindfulness instruction.
