Most of you are probably thinking the same thing. What is Reddit? I mean, I know my 16 year old brother (and 22 year old friends of the same maturity level) visit it about 10 times a day. But why? What’s so special?
Perhaps a little education can help us break it down.
For starters, Reddit calls itself “the front page of the internet“. You can think of it as a crowd-sourced magazine, where users determine what content is great, and what’s not. The most popular articles, images, and videos are ordered in real-time on Reddit’s home page.
What’s special about Reddit is its social aspect. Think about a huge group of people who find the same things you find hilarious, hilarious. They also like the same music, videos, and news articles as you.
Wouldn’t it be great if these people were constantly posting the great stuff they saw online each day? Not only that, but only their very best posts make it to you. So you don’t have to filter through a bunch of irrelevant junk to find the latest and greatest internet happenings. This is what Reddit has captured among its readers.
So how is this applicable to us as marketers?
Well, thanks to Prestige Marketing, we don’t need to decipher this mammoth of a website all by ourselves. They were kind enough to create an infographic for all us too-lazy-to-read-lots-of-text people (yep, that’s me).
So here it is. I hope it helps! Good luck.
