Is Pinterest Right for Your Business? [Infographic]

Ah Pinterest, the social media darling of 2012. How you’ve been able to keep my girlfriend busy for two hours a day, I’ll never understand. I’ve decided not to ask many questions. I just want to know, is that unbridled power good for marketing the latest and greatest? Should every business be pinning 2 hours a day?

After stewing on it for a few days and doing some research, I think I’ve started to develop an answer. If you sell products falling within the following categories, you should 99% absolutely be pinning away:

  • Arts
  • Accessories
  • Clothing
  • Landscaping
  • Design (Interior or Graphic)
  • Photography
By no means does it end there, but these seem to be the most popular themes to pin about. So, what if your company doesn’t fall into one of these categories? I’ve developed a quick checklist to help you figure out if Pinterest a social media channel you should focus on.

1. Do you have kick-ass, professional, attractive photos of your business/service/product that would be of interest to your target audience?

2. Is your target market women between the ages of 18 & 44?

3. Are you constantly coming up with great new photographable/image based content?

4. Do you have an eCommerce site where people can shop for your products?

If you answered “Yes” to all four questions above, do yourself a favour and click here to setup a Pinterest Business account. Here’s a quick compilation of guides to get you started, as well as a wicked blog post by Jeff Bulas. I’ve also included an awesome Infographic by Buzz Referrals. Happy pinning!
